I’m busy packing for a secret business trip tomorrow morning to Colorado. I can’t spill the beans on this crafty opportunity just yet but trust me… it’s awesome!
As I’m packing I decided I needed a mini ironing board to take with me. I had to use stuff I already had at home and I needed to make one quickly! After a walk around the house I found the perfect thing to use as my base— one of my kids’ {many} wooden puzzles! It’s the perfect size at 9″ x 12″, lightweight but still solid wood.
All you need is the wooden puzzle base, 100% cotton batting, 100% cotton fabric and a staple gun.
Thought I would share in case you want to make one for yourself to take on trips, or for classes/retreats. It’s small enough to fit in a tote or in my case my suitcase.

This could also be great for college kids with limited storage space in their dorm rooms (like my youngest, who’s starting college in August). I have plenty of fabric and batting (and access to the family staple gun); now I just need to find a 9″x12″ hunk of wood (maybe at a yard sale or thrift shop?). Obviously, my kids have long since “aged out” of wood puzzles, and my spouse doesn’t do any carpentry or woodworking, so we don’t have scrap wood lying around. Perhaps an old wooden cutting board of similar size would work, as well?

This could also be great for higher education kids with restricted storage space space in their higher education dorms (like my newest, who’s starting higher education in August). I have a lot of material and hitting (and access to the family choice gun)

What a great idea!!!! I went out to the thrift store (I have no small children at home) and found a puzzle for 50 cents. Cant wait to cover it and make this.

I love this idea, perfect for when you are traveling but still being crafty. Also I hate when I travel and stay with someone and they have gross iron boards, you know the ones all burnt up. This would be perfect for that.
