Let’s talk about rotary cutters! I know they are really cool cutting tools and you might be thinking you’d like to buy one. However, before you do that, I would like to share with you 3 things to help you choose when buying a rotary cutter.
#1 WHAT WILL YOU BE CUTTING?
There are various projects that you could possibly work on and not everything would require using the same size of rotary cutter. Say, for example, when cutting through curves. A 60 mm blade is not suitable to cut through sharp curves. I would definitely recommend smaller blades for tighter curves.
#2 WHO HAS ACCESS TO YOUR SUPPLIES?
Obviously, rotary cutters come with blades which is one thing you should consider for safety. Another thing you should know, not all rotary cutters are created equal when it comes to how you can access the blade. If you have toddlers, kids, and pets, then I would recommend the one with an ergonomic handle. It’s has a special feature that only when you squeeze on the handle the blade is on a cutting position. Then, when you let go of the cutter, the blade goes right back.
#3 ARE YOU RIGHT OR LEFT HANDED?
Again, those cutters with an ergonomic handle and safety lock are suitable for both left-handed and right-handed people. Not all cutters cater the same. So, you should check if the blades can be switched to the other side or not.
Now I hope you’re decided on what rotary cutter to buy. Watch my video to get more visual on these different types of rotary cutters and how it works.
