I did a lot of sewing this weekend!  My local Husqvarna Viking dealer hosts a Christmas quilt competition every year where the winners win gift certificates to the store.  I’ve never entered before and hadn’t thought about making a Christmas quilt for this year’s competition. After a convincing e-mail from one of the store’s employees (thanks, Bunny!) I decided to go for it. She suggested I tweak my Delightful Tweets e-Pattern
(which is now available as an immediate download e-pattern) into something more Christmas-y and enter it.  I sat at my netbook, opened up EQ7 and after a few (well, about 15….) minutes here is what I came up with….

compare it to the original, Delightful Tweets:

I think I did good!  What do you think?
I added some snow using the same technique I used in this mini quilt.
I don’t know where the idea came from but I puffed up the birdie to make him more 3-dimensional, too.
It’s kinda like trapunto… I think.
I’ll be honest… I don’t really know what trapunto  is or how its done but I know that whenever someone points to a quilt and says something about trapunto it has areas that puff out.  So, I’m guessing this is close.
I’m not in love with the fabrics I used but I had to make do with what I had!
Another stash buster project!  Gotta love those!
p.s.-  The original Delightful Tweets e-Pattern is available for sale in my shop as an immediate download.  That means no waiting.  As soon as you pay you’ll be redirected to the download link.

Very cute! A great take on the original! LOVE the background quilting! I need to get on a table runner spree to work on my quilting technique (or lack thereof!!)

    Good luck in the competition!
