Starburst Zipper Pouch Tutorial with Crafty Gemini 5″ Slicer Ruler

Here’s another tutorial for you! I have decided to make another project. It is a perfect gift idea that you can make out of fabric scraps and yet it still looks great. I call it my Starburst Zipper Pouch and today, in my video tutorial, I will share with you how to make one. Here are the materials that you will be needing:

  • Fabric squares (4) 5” x 5”
  • Nylon zipper             ~7”
  • Slicer ruler 5”
  • Lining fabric             ~12” x 12”
  • Fusible fleece
  • Rectangle fabrics (2)  1.75” x 2.5”

Here’s an overview of how to make a Starburst Zipper Pouch:

To make an exterior fabric. Using two fabrics, cut two right triangles each from both sides. Then, swap the triangles of each fabric. Grab another two fabrics. Then, cut an isosceles triangle equally in the middle of each fabric. Take only the cutaway fabrics from both sides of the triangles. Stitch these fabrics together creating two pieces for the exterior. Then, trim the edges to match the fabrics. After that, use these as templates to cut out the fusible fleece and lining fabrics. Then, fuse the exterior with the fleece. Using the rectangular fabrics, create the zipper tabs, and attach them to the nylon zipper. From here, put all the fabrics together as well as the zipper, until the Starburst zipper pouch is created.
