Just finished a new custom baby quilt for a friend. She is excited to give this baby quilt to a friend at the baby shower later this month. I designed this quilt, pieced it and quilted it myself.
Two-color combo drunkard’s path blocks in alternating positions.
Baby boy’s name appliqued on.
Free-motion squiggly quilting in blue on blue areas and in brown in brown areas.
Used a coordinating striped backing and I’m very happy with the way the quilting looks on it. Simple and fun, perfect for a baby.
I also used the backing fabric for the binding….and I love that speckled look on the binding.
I have people ask me all the time if I take custom orders. I do!

I have a few questions. Your quilt along showed how to make the squares, but how do you finish the quilt….add backing and batting and stuff? I could make the squares but don’t know what to do after that.

Brittney: There are tons of tutorials online that have great step-by-step instructions. I suggest you try to pull up some video tutorials so you get a better feel of how most quilts are put together. I’ve yet to make an actual full on quilting tutorial but I do have one that you can see to get an idea. This is my quilted drink coaster tutorial. You can watch it here: http://craftygemini.blogspot.com/2010/04/you-can-quilt-giveaway.html
Hope this helps!
