Welcome to another tutorial of my hand embroidery video series. This is the second part of how to make a fully lined tote bag that is embellished with a hand embroidery design. Previously, I showed you how to make the handles of the bag, how to prep the lining fabric and hem the outer fabric. I didn’t stitch up the sides of the outer fabric because we still got work to do with it which is what I’m about on this second part of my tutorial. If you are new here, then don’t forget to check out part 1 of my hand embroidered tote bag to get updated!
The second part of this series is the embroidery tutorial. I used Indygo Junction’s Stitched Style. Moreover, I would like to tell you about the stitches I used on my design. These are the backstitch, french knots, and the satin stitch. I find that the stitches will depend on how many strands of embroidery floss you use, as well as what kind of technique you do. As for the choice of color for your embroidery floss, always remember to pick a color that creates a contrast between the fabric and the design itself.
To get more visual on how I made the embroidery, check out video #2 in this Hand Embroidered Tote bag Video series. I’ll see you on the third tutorial for the finished product!
