Muddy Games- Homeschool Nature Activity

Living on a little farm provides my kids with pretty much unlimited outdoor activities. Some days I plan things for us to do and other days I just go with the flow and let them do whatever they want. The most inexpensive and simple activities usually turn out to be the funnest ones! I love pulling my kids outside away from all electronic devices and let them enjoy and explore nature.

This is one of my daughter’s favorite outdoor activities. She calls it “muddy games.” The idea is very basic but provides them with hours of fun. I’m not kidding! They easily spend two hours playing muddy games outside.

Here’s how it works:

Fill a bowl with water.
My baby girl is getting so big! She’s already 2.5 yrs old!
{Goat helper is optional.}

Grab handfuls of weeds, grass and dirt and add to bowl of water.
stirring sticks
 Stir around with a stick. That’s it!
Simple as can be!

Allie pretends she’s making pancake batter and adds more dirt until the consistency is just right!
She is definitely the child of a foodie!

Any container that holds water will do.
I will warn you, though. If you have puppies make sure to keep them entertained with something else while the kids are playing muddy games because if they are anything like Butterball (Yay! for Pitbull puppies!) they will try to run off with the sticks!

Oh, Butterball! He loves to play fetch.

Butterball thinks every stick is his.
So there you have it- muddy games! Super simple and tons of outdoor fun!
