As most of you already know I have a block published in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, Vol. 3. It’s the red, black and white block you see on the bottom of the cover….. yea, the cover!! Crazy, eh?!
I call it Horizon. It definitely is representative of my quilting style… simple… and bold!
So here is what this Blog Tour is all about….
You have the opportunity to take a virtual tour of a ton of fabulous designers featured in this issue. If you are just getting in on the tour note this is Day 4 so you want to go back and catch up on all the blogs featured earlier this week.

Quiltmaker is very kindly hosting this giveaway—- where one lucky reader will receive their own FREE copy of the 100 Blocks, Vol. 3 issue! To enter the giveaway simply leave a comment below and let me know what colors/fabrics you would use to make a quilt using my Horizon block. Deadline: Saturday, May 7th at 10:00pm EST. (Make sure I have a way of contacting you in case you are the winner. If you comment as Anonymous make sure to include your email address in the actual comment.)
Whether or not you enter the giveaway you should still run out and get your own copy! Look for the magazine on stands everywhere by May 10th. This issue is jam packed with amazing blocks from famous and newbie designers (like me!). Just think….if you win and you already have a copy you can give one as a gift to a friend. I think your block would look great with blue where the red is. The black feels like it should be there. Just about any bright jewel tone would look great to me; blue is my favorite color.

I would love to do your block in Dark Teal, Medium Green and Light Yellow. I would probably use batiks for it, but maybe not – the solids really pop. I like BOLD and this is bold! Oh yeah!

I think I’d use some Kona Solids :). Maybe some teal and Kelly green in place of the red and white, and maybe like a coral color for the black? Hmmm. This block has so many possibilities!

Another reason it caught my eye is that these three colors are my granddaughter’s favorites. I love it as is, AND might try it in deep blues with yellow. Hmmm…I make scrappy quilts, so I would probably use white or cream as a constant in every block and then use navy/black/dark darks where you use black and medium/brights where you have red. This block might make some interesting secondary designs depending on how they are set i the quilt.. I’d love to win a copy of the book!

Would have guessed your block was the red, white and black based on your blog site. I like that color scheme and it’s my son’s favorite (I made him a quilt using these colors). Or, how about a royal blue, deep purple and a pop of chartreuse (closer to green) as in the colors of the quilt in my icon?

i actually gasped when i scrolled down and saw the quilt made up of the block. ohmygoodness! i love the block, but it is AMAZING as a full quilt!!
i think i would use kona solids, because i love them, but it would be neat to add a tone on tone print for one of the main colours too.
