Sewing & Quilting Studio Tour and Ott-Lite Giveaway

woo-hoo! The much requested studio video tour is finally here! I still have some final touches to put on the whole room but here it is in all it’s DIY and thrifty glory. I walk you through some of my DIY remixes and other furniture pieces I snatched up thanks to one of my local sewing friends, Sassy Crafter.

I did the vast majority of everything you will see in the video myself. I am exhausted just looking at the before pictures but very happy to have some after pictures and shots to share. Phew! It’s been a long time coming and I’m glad to be in my new studio creating and shooting new tutorials for you.

If you are in the North Central Florida area I will also be offering private and small group sewing and quilting classes very soon.  You can check out my “Classes” page for more info.

I also tell you about my Ott-Lite lamp and offer this one up to one lucky viewer. Enter for your chance to win. All the details are in the video.  Giveaway ends Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:59pm EST. It is open to worldwide viewers. Only proper entries will be counted.

Enjoy my studio tour by clicking HERE or you can view it below if you are reading this post on my blog (not via email).
Don’t forget to pin this post! I love pins!

I’ve watched the video-tour, and your studio looks fantastic. Now, after the hard work, it’s time to sew, quilt, give some classes and have some fun.

What a great big space for your quilting studio! I’m always trying to add more light to my work space especially as my eyes get a little older;) Please enter me in your ott light giveaway.

First off i love all my ott lights. Bought a floor type for knitting on the couch, only to always find my husband reading under it. hmmm needed a second. On another note I am sad because I am unable to view any of your videos from youtube. Would love to see this one of your lovely studio. Congrats on your special space.

Hats off to you for all your hard work. Your studio looks great. Wish I had a space like this! I do have a metal rack like yours, formerly holding snacks, I think. I love the fact that it’s really sturdy, and it comes apart, making it easy to move. I may not have the space you have, but I’ve carved out a little space for myself in a spare bedroom. I’d love to have some good lighting in it for all my different crafty explorations. Frankly, as I get older, I can feel my eyes getting weaker. I could use the special Ottlite bulb to help me see.

I love your large table and the great idea with the shower caddy for aerosal cans. I would like an OTT-Lite as it is getting harder to see now that I am getting older and I hear it is great for keeping one in an upbeat mood.

Your studio looks great! Thanks for sharing. You’ve given me some ideas for my work space. I love the way you reuse too. I would love to win the Ott lite. I live in a small apartment, and like most apartments it doesn’t have overhead lighting in the living room. That’s where I have my sewing area set up in the corner. I have a lamp, but there never seems to be enough light. Thanks for the giveaway and for sharing your new space!

Enjoyed the video and love the new sewing studio! I have seen the lamps at Jo Ann’s and always wanted to give it a try. I could use one of the lamps to add more light when sewing in the evening. The lightening in my sewing room is not the greatest. This is one area that needs attention. However, I do have one window in the sewing room but, it is really not enough light to make a difference. Again, thanks for sharing.

I have been following and subscribing to your excellent posts for a while. I definitely liked your video and would LOVE to have a space like that to work in. I picked up some excellent tips from your space and will put them into use… a hook rack for my tape measures – so simple and will save my constant search for one under fabric and supplies. I currently have all my rulers standing up against my sewing table. I will now hunt out a container for them and get them off the floor. I have a tin which I use for my cutters but it is now too small – time to upgrade.
I would love the Ott light as I have been crushing on one of these for several years but they are out of my budget (still). I embroider and sew and scrapbook. It is really hard on my eyes when trying to embroider in less than desirable light. An Ott light would seriously change my life. thanks for hosting this give away.

Loved your quilting studio, thanks for sharing it via the video. Would love to win the Ott Light, my den where I sew is so dark. Wish I had a nice bright cheery room like yours.

I have an empty room (my youngest child is 24 and this was her bedroom) just waiting to become my studio. I have taken so much inspiration from your tutorials (and I have bought patterns to help you out $$$) and I look forward to anything you have to share. I had to laugh when you said 1973 was “old” since that’s the year I got married. Thank you for showing others how to add your children to your activities (like cooking) and how to repurpose items we might find at thrift stores. I can’t wait for your next tutorial – I confess to a serious addiction. 🙂

Caught a YouTube video of yours when I was in need of a fabric label (I’m so making my own now and not buying them, Thanks!) and thought I would look up this craftygemini and see what you had. Love it!
Really love your studio. I have a room that I converted when our oldest moved out. I painted it princess purple (my term for little girl bright purple) and white. It has a good closet and I reused some kitchen cabinets, so I have lots of storage space.
I think your studio looks fun. I would love to hang out and sew! Too bad I’m in Illinois. 🙂 But I’ve bookmarked you and can’t wait to see what else you have on your site. Rayna from RaynPrettyDesigns
