In today’s tutorial we are breaking down the easiest and fastest way to make a fleece hat with a fringe pom pom on top. This is a go-to project for when I’m teaching kids to sew because it’s so fast and easy to make that the kids LOVE walking out of class with a finished project. It holds their attention just long enough to do the few steps and complete it!
Yes, the way that I teach it results in have an exposed raw seam at the back but a more experience sewist can easily adapt the steps to make it have a finished seam instead. The point of this method is to make this project with kids or beginners and give thema. quick win!
Easy Fleece Hat Tutorial Measurements for Kids & Adults:
• Kids (~20″ circumference): Cut 1 piece at 13.5″ x 20″ and 1 strip at 3/4″ x 10″
• Adults (~ 23″ circumference): Cut 1 piece at 15″ x 22″ and 1 strip at 3/4″ x 10″
**Cut all pieces so the longest measurements are running along the degree of greatest stretch of the fleece fabric
**NOTE: I cut my fringe between 3/8″ – 1/2″ wide. You can use scissors instead of a rotary cutter for safety if making this project with kids.
