Retreaters have 48 hrs to submit their $250 non-refundable payment to secure their spot. Failure to do so will result in losing your spot and another name will be pulled from lottery.
There are no refunds, credits or exchanges offered on any deposits, partial or full retreat payments. If you cannot attend the retreat it is up to you to sell your spot and contact us to let us know of your replacement.
We have rented a gorgeous mini-mansion for all four of our luxury retreats this year! Scroll through the pictures below to get a glimpse of where you will be staying if you join us for some sewing & quilting fun!

February 28-March 3rd, 2019 (Quilting Retreat)
- $1375 per person for single occupancy with private bathroom
- $1175 per person for double occupancy with shared bathroom
- Bedrooms are located on second floor of the home and will require walking up and downstairs.
- Payments can be made in full or via the following payment plan schedule: $250 due upon notification of lottery selection, January 15th 2nd payment; February 15th final payment due.

- Sewing level required: Confident beginner. You should be comfortable threading a sewing machine, winding a bobbin, sewing straight while following a set seam allowance.
- Registration fee includes lodging at a private- 9 bedroom home with private pool near Orlando, FL, classes, loaner sewing machine and basic sewing supplies (rotary cutters, mats, rulers, scissors, ironing boards, etc), all meals & snacks, access to on-site pop up shop, event t-shirt, swag bag and 10-minute chair massages.

- Loaner sewing machines at our retreats are Juki DX-5 computerized sewing machines.
- The Crafty Gemini will teach a lap sized quilt-as-you-go project (pictured below) and a small improvisational quilt-as-you-go zipper pouch with fabric scraps! Finish quilt dimensions are approx. 47″ x 59″. Our goal is to have the quilt mostly (or fully!) completed at the end of the weekend! Vanessa will teach you some quick finishing tips & tricks for quilt-as-you-go projects so you can make quilts in a flash with no need for fancy free motion quilting!
- Retreat fee also includes class supply kit for each project:
- Printed pattern instructions for both projects
- One 60″ x 60″ package of 100% USA Made cotton batting for quilt project
- Small scrap bag of strips for making improv zipper pouch
- One zipper for zipper pouch
- One zipper charm for zipper pouch
- 1 1/2 yards of solid center fabric for quilt project (class supply list will have you bring scraps for corner units)

April 11-14th, 2019 (Bag Making Retreat)

- The Crafty Gemini will teach two small handbag projects: 1) Ramona Hipster Bag and 2) Marianne Clutch by Swoon Patterns.
- The Ramona is a slim hipster-style bag with an adjustable crossbody strap. A recessed zipper keeps your things secure and an oval-shaped bottom provides just enough room for it all.
- The Marianne Clutch (we will make the mini wristlet version): An essential bag for a night out on the town; dress it up or go casual. The Mini Wristlet includes a wristlet strap and magnetic snap closure. A zippered pocket inside keeps the small things secure.

- Lauren Taylor (aka- Lladybird.com) will teach a 2.5 day long course on how to make custom fitted stretch denim jeans! Lauren is an expert seamstress and her specialty is teaching jeans making to students of all shapes and sizes. Lauren has been sewing for most of her life and makes pretty much all of her clothing at this point. In addition to teaching fun sewing classes and workshops, Lauren also works professionally in wardrobe + alterations for commercials and celebrities.
- Students will learn how to make jeans using the Ginger Jeans pattern from Closet Case Patterns – a classic high-rise skinny jean made with stretch denim.
- She will go over everything you need to know to make a professional looking pair of jeans – choosing the correct size, tips for accurate topstitching, serged seam finishes, an easy fly-front zipper, and installing all that fun hardware!
- We will kick off the weekend with a half day to choose your size (we will have muslins of the pattern pre-made so you can try them on!) and cutting and marking your denim.
- Construction will begin on Friday and go all through Saturday. Please note that while this is not a pants-fitting class, Lauren will cover basic flat pattern alterations and minor fitting adjustments as needed for each individual body.
- Prior sewing experience is required to take this class. You must be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine.
- Retreat fee also includes class kit which will include everything you need to make a pair of jeans:
- One Jeans sewing pattern per student: Closet Case Patterns Ginger Jeans (sizes 0-20) OR Cashmerette Ames Jeans (sizes 12-28).
- Stretch denim fabric for one pair of jeans.
- Lightweight fusible interfacing
- Topstitching thread- 1 spool
- Rivets for one pair of jeans
- Jean buttons
- One 9” brass jeans zipper per student
- Denim sewing machine needles, size 90/14

Oct. 10- 13, 2019 (Garment Sewing Retreat)

- The Crafty Gemini will teach two different garment sewing patterns: 1) Yoko top and 2) Helene Cardigan by Jalie Patterns.
- Yoko Top: Square-shaped loose-fitting top with roll-neck, drop shoulder and semi-fitted sleeve. A cozy and versatile garment. You can easily turn it into a tunic or dress by added length at the hem.
- HÉLÈNE Shawl Collar Cardigan: Open front cardigan with high back neck that creates subtle draping, super-easy pocket, waist seam for color blocking and slightly flowy lower back to give it more movement. A quick sew thanks to the ingenious construction!
- Want to learn how to some some simple wardrobe building garments? If so, this is the retreat for you! the Crafty Gemini will go through how to choose your size from the pattern size chart, how to sort out the different pattern pieces, cutting and marking your fabric correctly, tips & tricks for working with stretch knit fabrics.

- Helene Cardigan sewing pattern in (from 2T to US Women’s size 22)

- 2 yards of fabric for Yoko top

- Our goal is to have you leave with two completed garments you can wear this Fall! Remember that the patterns include many different sizes so you will be able to make them for everyone from kids to adults, too!
