No quilt yet & the baby is driving!

How is Halloween already this weekend?! October has flown by, and we’ve got a busy few days ahead with costume parties, trick or treating and everything else we have going on here.

I’m trying to squeeze in all the things I want to get done while keeping up with the things that actually have to get done. 😂 And somewhere in the middle of all that, I still have to finish my Halloween quilt! Ahh!

I mailed out all of last night’s orders this morning, then I cleaned the house so, I can check those off my list. Here’s what else I’ve been up to the past week…

✨ CRAFTY GEMINI WORK

I have barely made any progress on this quilt, y’all. Ugh. My design wall isn’t even big enough for me to lay out all the blocks and move them around for the finalized layout I want. So, I decided to lay out as many blocks as I could and then I’ll just sew up a few additional rows or columns and connect the two to make it bigger. I’m even considering adding a border if it ends up being a little smaller than what I want. We’ll see!

I’m using this pattern. It’s a favorite for a quick go-to quilt that features a square in a square quilt block and it uses 10″ x 10″ contrasting fabric squares. I cut up the patchwork pieces in no time with my Stripology Squared Ruler.  I only have a few more days before Halloween and at this point I have no idea if I can actually get it done or not. I’ll let you know how it goes down next week. 😅

✨ WHATNOT SHOPPING SHOWS

We had a blast last night on my Whatnot show! I can chat a little more now that I upgraded my tech setup for the shows. As soon as an auction is over my printer automatically prints a label so I can slap it on the item and move on to the next auction. So fast and easy!

Since yesterday’s show went super smoothly I’m excited to use the new label printing setup for Friday night’s show! YAY! I’m starting all half yards of quilting cottons at just $3.00! I’ll have some interfacing, pattern tracing paper, rulers and other notions for sale, too. Join us and shop with me while we chat and have a good ol’ time.. as usual! My LIVE shows are a lot of fun! Below are a few pics from my order packing session this morning. Thank you to all who shop with me!

I’m hosting another show this FRIDAY night, October 30th at 8:00pm EDT.

✨ COMMUNITY SERVICE

On the 4th Thursday of each month I teach a craft class for local senior citizens. It’s always a good time! They enjoy learning how different types of projects are made and using my tools and gadgets themselves. This time I taught them how to sublimate little kitchen towels. I printed out a variety of Fall inspired images and they each used my manual heat press to sublimate their own towels. They each made two fun towels!

✨ IN THE GARDEN

Nothing new in the garden really other than I’m still harvesting peppers and roselle. MY pumpkin vines are dying back which means I can reclaim that chunk of garden space back soon! Yay! I’m freezing some of the scotch bonnet peppers because I have so many and I’m looking forward to trying the spanish habanero peppers that are finally starting to turn red.

The few zinnias I have blooming add a fun pop of color to the greenery in the garden and I’m trying to see if I have time to get another round of sunflowers in the ground before our first frost.

✨ This Week’s Favorite

This week my favorite thing was teaching my daughter how to drive a manual car! Woot!

Some of you have asked where I was able to find a manual transmission car these days and the answer is… I’ve had this car for 22+ years! I specifically held onto it so I could use it to teach my kids how to drive stick shift. It’s hard to believe that day is here. I love this car. It’s a 2004 Scion Xb and I’ve been the only owner. I bought it new off the lot with 5 miles on it right after graduating college back in 2004. It has served us well over the past two decades and I’m happy to still have it around for the kids. If I’m being honest, I want to get it in tip-top shape so it can be my main car again. I LOVE THIS CAR!

The baby of the house has her driver’s permit, y’all! Wild, right?! We’ve been driving just around our property for now until she feels a little more confident but she can already kick it into first gear without stalling. Easy peasy. This week she learned how to go from 1st to 2nd and how to do a 3-point turn. Go Allie!

This is so fun for me (I may be singing a different tune when she’s out the real road) but I laugh so hard with her! I spend most of the lesson crying because I’m laughing so hard! Fun times!
