I’m so excited to be hosting a series of in-person retreats throughout 2023! Sign up before all the slots fill!!
This year we’re hosting retreats on topics like: foundation paper piecing (quilting), bag making, mini-bag making, and small gift sewing. Crafty Gemini Retreats are always fun, they are small group experiences here in Florida that many retreaters talk about for years to come.
If you’ve never been to a Crafty Gemini Sewing/Quilting Retreat, they’re a ton of fun!
Crafty Gemini Retreats include:
- Focused sewing/quilting workshops and classes with Vanessa
- Plenty of social time to meet and connect with sewing friends
- An intimate retreat experience, each retreat is limited to 20 participants
- Complimentary use of a like-new/new high-end Juki sewing machine for the duration of the retreat
- Materials and tools for all the projects we’ll be making together
- Patterns and fabric kits for projects
- Shopping at our on-site fabric pop-up shop
- Room and meals are included, too!
Travel to and from the retreat and any additional personal expenses are not included.
The nearest regional airport is: GNV- Gainesville Regional Airport and the next closest big airports are:
JAX- Jacksonville International Airport
MCO- Orlando International Airport
TPA- Tampa International Airport
GNV is 40 minutes away from retreat location. All the other airport options mentioned are 1.5-2.5 hours drive away from retreat location. Many retreaters coordinate to road trip together or pickup at an airport.
Retreats will be held in Hawthorne, FL at a rural Lutheran Church Camp & Conference Center. We have hosted retreats for many years at this location in the past.
If you attended any of those retreats you will be happy to hear that they have a few upgrades:
1) A brand new building for retreaters to work and it is separate from the dining hall so you’ll have plenty of room to spread out. (see image)
2) They have also hard plumbed dehumidifiers into each room. Here is a pic of the new space. There are electrical outlets in the ground for sewing machines and mini irons, etc.

PLEASE READ THROUGH EVERYTHING CAREFULLY BEFORE PAYING.
Step #1: 2023 RETREAT CONTRACT must be filled out to finalize your spot. Read through the contract here before paying so you know what to expect and what you are agreeing to when submitting your payment.
Step #2: Choose the retreat/date you’d like to attend from the list below.
Step #3: Decide if you want a spot in a double occupancy room (you WILL have a roommate and a twin sized bed) or a single room (there are only a few per retreat.)
Step #4: Decide if you are going to pay in full or in two payments. Click the correct link for your payment method. Click on the link and proceed to pay.
NOTE: If you choose a payment plan option for any of the retreats you will pay the first installment now and the next one will be automatically charged:
• May retreat: 2nd payment will be charged one month from the date of first payment.
• June retreat: 2nd payment will be charged two months from the date of first payment.
• November retreat: 2nd payment will be charged 4 months from first payment.

January 30 – February 2, 2023: Foundation paper piecing (quilting) retreat
WE HAD A BLAST! This foundation paper piecing quilting retreat was so much fun and the perfect way to kick off our 2023 retreats.
May 4- May 7, 2023 : Mini Bag Projects (Sewing) Retreat- DONE!
June 2- 5, 2023 : Bag Making Projects (Sewing) Retreat- SOLD OUT!
This retreat is now SOLD OUT. We will send out more information on the projects we will be making in the next few months. Just know that this retreat will be all about making medium sized bags/purses. We focus on teaching retreaters new techniques and we will even have a surprised trunk show and lecture from a very famous bag pattern designer but we can’t spill the beans just yet! Shhh.

November 13-16, 2023 : Finish your own projects & small gifts (Sewing) Retreat
This retreat is all about finishing up your WIPs (works in progress) and holiday gifts. Vanessa will teach a few small pouches that will be perfect for gift giving projects but you are also encouraged to bring any projects you want to finish up in time for holiday gift giving!
