Supplies, Prep Work & Cutting Fabric: Butterick 6214- Video Sew Along

I’m on a roll! Have you noticed I’ve been editing and posting new videos in my Butterick 6214 Video Sew Along each day for the past 3 days! Phew! So, you’ll be happy to know that Video #4 and Video #5 are now ready for you to watch!

If you are following along with the sew along series please watch the videos in their entirety. Many of the questions I’m being asked have been covered in the video lessons.

We sold out of our rayon challis print fabrics and only have some solids left in the shop. I’m working on stocking a few other prints again. So, check back later this weekend if you want to snag some before they sell out again.

I have enjoyed your videos very much. I have learned many tips and information on the pattern. Really covered it so it is understandable. In one of your videos about finding your correct measurements and adjusting the pattern to fit. I was confused when you cut out the pattern you did not adjust your measurements on the pattern. I also noticed that you did not cut both pieces going the same direction on the fabric. I was taught to cut all pieces going the same direction on the fabric.

I really enjoy all of these classes – you are very good at explaining everything – it has been a while since I sewed clothing – very excited about doing it again! Very informative!
    Thanks – Susan

I have learned a lot from just reading the pattern info. Never knew that stuff. I watch all your videos, from sewing to cooking, gardening. Started watching the embroidery videos. Not really into quilting.

I love this video series, and am looking forward to making this top. I need a little help figuring out what size to make. My bust measurement is the largest of the three. My hips are the smallest. There isn’t a finished measurement for the bust. How much ease do I figure into the bust measurement? With the ease 5 1/8- to 8 inches, which end of the range to I lean towards? I hope this makes sense!

Hi Jen, I would suggest watching all the videos. In video #5 I believe I show you where all the bust, waist and hip finished measurements are. Which end of the size range is going to be a personal preference of how loose you want to wear your top. Go by the finished measurements to help choose your size. Happy sewing!
