10 inch slicer zipper pouch video tutorial by the crafty gemini

In this brand new video tutorial I walk you through all the steps in creating this cute and funky zipper pouch using my 10″ Slicer quilting ruler & template! My friend and quilt club member, Nancy L. gave me the idea and I just knew I had to film a video tutorial for you! You can never have too many zipper pouches! This particular shape lends itself nicely to storing your sewing scissors and rotary cutters. It would also make a great gift for the kids in your life! They can use it to store their pencils, pens and other school supplies.

The list of supplies I used in this tutorial can be found below. Simply click on the product and you will be directed to the product pages.

• 10″ Slicer ruler

• In-R-Form Plus

I used some left over 10″ x 10″ squares of fabric to create my zipper pouch but you can cut the pieces from yardage also. It’s totally up to you! Now I’ll leave you with the step-by-step video tutorial on how to make a 10″ Slicer zipper pouch. Feel free to share this post/video with your crafty friends and on your social media platforms!

Just wanted to drop a note to say I love all of your videos and posts of your family, between you and Jenny Doan @ MSQC, I watch too much you tube quilt videos, I actually have a tablet for only quilting related websites and you tube. I will order the 5″ & 10″ slicers. I also ordered 50 zippers on ebay for $10 and have gotten really good at making zipper pouches. I have been quilting for over 30 years and before your videos, I would have never touched a zipper. Thanks again for all your hard work.

PS. I sell real estate and for a closing gift for my clients, I make a coiled fabric clothes line basket, my clients love them. I add 4 coasters, a few mugs and tea or coffee. They are so touched I took the time to make them something, it has brought a few to tears. I also had the opportunity to teach a few classes making the baskets, I was hired by the American Sewing Guild, which I am a member. You were my inspiration for teaching and everyone left with several baskets.

To Lisa Pridgen – Me too! I spend way too much time watching those same two gals on YouTube videos. I have learned so much from both of them. I also avoid zippers but I’m about to watch this one, to see if I think I can tackle it. Thank you Vanessa and also Jenny Doan for all the wonderful videos you both do. They are so easy to understand. Love trying new projects!

So HAPPY that you are back with your very detailed tutorials!!! CGC Tutorials were very fast and not as detailed. Your attention to teaching every step sets your videos very far apart from ALL other tutorials. I never have questions when you’re the teacher. I look forward to learning more new sewing projects from you.

    Thank you!!!!

I haven’t bought a 10inch slice yet, so I don’t have one to use as a measure. Therefore I need to use an ordinary ruler, what are the measurements I would need. Thanks for your time.

good tutorial. You can make 2 pouches in 2 sizes as you can make one with the first cut. Then do no turn the slicer to cut one more – just keep the material as it is. You will then get on pouch a bit bigger than the first one, But NO waste material.
    🙂

Just an idea to avoid waste. great tutorial.
I got the slicer from my american friend (both the 5″ and the 10″) I was just a fool and didnot read the wrapping around the slicers before I threw it out, as I was too keen on starting to use it and have fun.
