Top 3 T-shirt patterns!

I’m working on building up my new home-sewn wardrobe and I thought I would start of with t-shirts. That makes sense, right? My every day go-to outfit is a tee and comfy jeans so, I did some research.

While doing my homework online I found a gazillion t-shirt patterns for women, many of which were free. But sometimes the freebies only come in one size or they haven’t been tested thoroughly enough. I’m trying to save myself that hassle. I want a TNT (tried and true) pattern that I create again and again. You know, a wardrobe staple!

 Here are the Top 3 t-shirt patterns I decided to try out:

1) Marcy and Katherine Tilton’s Craftsy class:  The Ultimate T-Shirt: Fitting & Construction.

I am about half way through the class already and let me tell you- these ladies know what they are talking about! I love that in every lesson they are each wearing a different t-shirt they made themselves. Each with a different twist, designer elements, cool necklines, interesting fabrics, etc. As you learn from their lessons you are also inspired to try new techniques. At first, I was a little hesitant to have two instructors and was wondering how they were going to do that without being too distracting. But I was pleased to see they split up the course lessons so only one of them is teaching at a time. Phew! They also include all kinds of tips and tricks throughout the lessons, which I am really enjoying.
When you sign up for the class the pattern (V8793) is already included in the course price so, Vogue mails it out directly to you.  The course is based off this pattern and it was designed by one of the instructors- Katherine Tilton. Cool! Once I make this t-shirt I will be sure to share my full review with you and let you know my thoughts on it. If you want to try it out for yourself, click HERE to sign up! Are you signed up for this class already? What are your thoughts?

2) Angela Wolf’s Ruched-T

I love that is has different variations and I can see myself making this out of all different types of knits.  When I met Angela last summer, (on the set of It’s Sew Easy) I saw her wearing a few different versions where she’d made the tee using fabric she hand dyes herself. So pretty!
I love a cowl neckline and the ruching on one side or both. Hmmm. I have to figure out which version to try out first.  When I do make it I will report back with a review of how it worked out for me. One thing worth noting is that Angela’s patterns DO NOT come printed on flimsy tissue paper like commercial patterns do. It’s all on sturdy white paper. You can also choose the printable version of the pattern so you can have it instantly at home. This Ruched-T pattern also comes in plus sizes from XXL- 5X. Which is amazing!  Click HERE to see her patterns.  If you’ve given it a try already leave me a comment below and let me know how you liked it! You can buy her patterns directly from her website by clicking HERE.
{UPDATE! Angela heard about this post and was kind enough to create a 10% off coupon code just for Crafty Gemini followers. Yay! Use coupon code: CRAFTYGEMINI10 and save 10%!}

3) New Look 6230

I first heard about it from my homegirl, Mimi G.  when she did a tutorial on a workout outfit using that pattern. You can click HERE to see the tutorial and all the different variations she made with it. So cool! Since then I did some more research and other reviews online came back as mostly positive. I really love the sporty feel of it but that it can also be dressed up if need be. I also like that I can create this tee all in one fabric or create a cool color blocked design, too. Will have to give it a try soon. Click HERE to buy it. Have you tried this pattern? Let me know!
