Machine Embroidery time!

I get a ton of requests for machine embroidery tutorials and projects. As much as I’d like to offer that too, there just aren’t enough hours in the day.  I used to have a sewing machine with a small embroidery unit when I first started quilting back in 2007. I barely used it so I sold it a few years later. Maybe in the future I’ll get back into it. But for now I’ll leave the machine embroidery teaching to the experts.

Do you have an embroidery machine? Yes? Then here is a special little treat just for you!

Let me introduce you to one of my crafty friends, Sue O’Very! Sue just launched her first online class with Craftsy! How exciting!

She teaches you how to create five {super cute!} projects and they are all done completely in the embroidery hoop! I saw some things she does that I didn’t even know were possible– sewing on a zipper in an embroidery hoop?! Wow.

I asked Sue to share a few questions with you about her experience filming this Craftsy class and here’s what she had to say…

“Filming my In The Hoop Gifts Craftsy class was SEW much fun. I had an amazing team of professionals to walk me through every step of the way. Of course they told me that everyone is nervous on the first day of filming. So, in my head I said to myself  “Sue, you are going to be fine”. Then they counted me in…three, two…(I was supposed to say one in my head) instead my mind went blank. I forgot everything I was supposed to do and said ONE really loud at the WRONG camera! After everyone had a good laugh, I took a couple deep breaths and my producer gave me a few encouraging ‘you can do it’ pats on the back. Then in no time…I was back on my way, smiling and stitching along.

I will be there encouraging you throughout this class the same way my production team was there to help me…every step of the way. My In The Hoop Gifts class is terrific for all levels of machine embroidery enthusiast. First I will get you started with a fast and fun key cover, then work with vinyl to complete a customizable luggage tag. Next…indulge your inner designer as you mix and match fabrics to create a chic pouch, insert a zipper and let your machine stitch it in place — no hand sewing necessary! Then stitch up an adorable stuffed fox using appliqué techniques, and work with rehooping to create a charming, heat-resistant owl potholder. Expand the creative potential of your embroidery machine, and complete intricate projects with impressive results!

By the end of the class you will have more knowledge under your belt on In The Hoop embroidery than you thought possible. Plus, what is GREAT about Craftsy is the ability to watch the class on your schedule! Join me for a Hoot of a time!”  ~ Sue
