If you don’t follow my {very frequent} posts on Facebook you probably don’t know about my pumpkins! We grew pumpkins in the garden this year!  One of the joys of living in Florida is that I already have pumpkins… in June! Yup! I’m having way too much fun on this little farm.
The heirloom variety I planted is Connecticut Field.

The two smaller pumpkins ripening nicely.

I planted one seed… ONE SEED. I can’t get over it! There are few things more amazing and worthwhile than planting one little seed in the ground and harvesting almost 40 lbs of food from it!

Our first and biggest pumpkin- it weighs 16.5 lbs!

I cut into the smallest pumpkin and prepped it for roasting to make some puree. I plan to repeat the process with the larger two but those will be frozen in puree form in baggies. This first batch is in the fridge to be used this week in every dish I can sneak it into!

I got a ton of seeds too so, I’m roasting some and saving the rest to plant a huge pumpkin patch next year.

The one 11 lb pumpkin yielded 80 ounces of pumpkin puree. Yay!
