T-shirt Drawstring Backpack Tutorial

For Week 4 of Invade London I’ve whipped up a quick an easy kid’s project that is a go-to for using up old t-shirts.  Many people know that drawstring backpacks are simple to make but just don’t know how to make the shoulder straps so that they serve two purposes- 1) the shoulder straps and 2) the closure for the backpack.  Once you watch this tutorial you are going to see just how easy it is.

In this project I used some white cotton stretch knit fabric I got from one of my sponsors- Fabric Mart Fabrics.  They have some ridiculous sales and I’ve scooped fabric up for even $1 per yard!  Check them out HERE for your garment sewing fabric needs.

This project can be made in any size and with pretty much any fabric.  So, go for it and give it a try! If you don’t have kids.. no worries. Just make a larger one for yourself!

It’s also a must-have for any child involved in extracurricular activities. They always need to store something- dance shoes, tennis balls, goggles, cleats, etc.

Hope you’ll give it a try!  I’ll leave you with the video below (if you are reading this on my site). If you are reading this in your email, click HERE to watch the tutorial.

Don’t forget to pin! I love pins!
