I’m on It’s Sew Easy- PBS TV show!

You may remember that in this post I mentioned going to Cleveland, OH to film two segments for It’s Sew Easy, the PBS sewing tv show. Well, the episodes haven’t started airing on tv yet and our local PBS station doesn’t air this show anyway. Boo-hoo. The good news is they did upload parts of the show to YouTube today! AH! I freaked when I watched it! I don’t think I will ever get tired of seeing myself on camera. Especially on a professional set with hair & makeup done. A B-I-G difference to my self-run production in my studio. It’s always nice to have professionals doing the producing, filming, lighting and audio for you so you can just focus on teaching. One day I’ll be able to afford my own crew.

In this video I teach you how to make a fold up play mat that doubles as a pillow for a child. These are fun projects to make with kids because they can choose fabric from your stash, help you with the design and theme idea and even sew some of it themselves. I use the Brother Scan N Cut machine to create the fun appliques on my daughter’s play mat. Super easy to do and the Scan N Cut really shines in this video. You will see how easy it is to use and how versatile it is when it comes to both built-in designs and scanning in your own images.

The Brother Scan N Cut machine is now available HERE or at your local authorized Brother sewing machine dealer.

I think I did pretty good. What do you think?

I think you did a great job with this video!! What a super handy machine that scan cut is and you make it look so easy! You mentioned that all the instructions and measurements for the playmat are on your website, but I can’t find it. I’m sure I must be overlooking it. Can you direct me to where it is?

I loved it! I really would like to have it but want it to link to my computer. I have read compelling arguments for and against it and still can’t decide. What do you think?

I also wanted you to know that I used your youtube video for making the tube pillowcases in a classroom setting for a Mother and her three daughters. It was such a fabulous teaching tool and I thank you so much for providing it to the world. I look forward to more from you in the future. Kudos to you for your expertise in video teaching! Have a great day and Happy Sewing! Pamie G. Texas

Pamela, there will be a way to create and edit designs on your computer and then transfer to the Scan N Cut. It hasn’t been rolled out yet but it’s coming soon! I love that you can just save your designs to a USB drive and plug it into the machine. As for the instructions for this project that will all be up on the http://www.itsseweasytv.com website once my episode goes live. I think they are airing episode 602 this week. Mine is 605 so in 3 weeks it will be live on the web. Thanks!

I finally got around to watching some of the It’s sew easy programs I had recorded and tonight I watched your tutorial on how to create the perfect tank pattern. I loved it! You made it so simple and easy to follow. I was so excited to hear you had a blog. So, just as soon as the program ended I came and searched it. I can’t wait to try out some of your designs. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge and creativity with us.

Great job Vanessa. You did a wonderful job, but I’m not surprised by that. 🙂 I’ve been watching your youtube videos since your son was an infant.
