The Big Little Book of Fabric Die Cutting Tips- Blog Book Tour & Giveaway!

Hey quilters!  I know I haven’t posted a quilting tutorial in a while but rest assured I am working on a few to bring you in the coming weeks.  In the meantime… I’m bringing you info (and a giveaway, of course!) on my friend, Ebony Love’s new must-have book- The Big Little Book of Fabric Die Cutting Tips.

Book cover.

If you have any kind of die cutting system you have probably come across her video tutorials.  If you haven’t and are looking for ideas, inspiration, tips & tricks check them out here.

Author, Ebony Love

I have had my fabric die cutting system for 2 yrs now- the AccuQuilt Go! It’s easy to use but early on I found myself looking for info on reducing fabric waste, how to cut through multiple layers with no shifting, making the cutting mats last longer, etc.  After some research, there was NOTHING on the internet. NOTHING. Every few months I would do another search until I finally found Ebony!  So, you can imagine my excitement when she told me she was writing this book with EVERYTHING the die cutting quilter needs to know.

I had the opportunity to review the book and I think it is the must-have book for any die cutting quilter!

It’s a spiral bound book with a whopping 256 pages! It is jam packed with INFO.  This is NOT a book of projects.  The book tells you everything about the die cutting systems on the market right now. From how many dies each manufacturer puts out each year to the warranty info on each manufacturer.

You can read a full 16-page excerpt from the book with the complete table of contents by clicking HERE.

But my favorite part has to be the little question & answer boxes that you will find throughout the book.  The questions are asked and answered in plain English and they all answer great questions you may already have.  Here is one quick example directly from the book:

These little boxes are everywhere in the book and offer great insight and guidance. I love them!

The book can be purchased directly from Ebony because she self-published this book! Go Girl! You can click HERE for the info.

GIVEAWAY TIME: One random winner will be selected to win a copy of The Big Little Book of Fabric Die Cutting Tips.

TO ENTER: Leave a comment below telling me why you want to win the book.

DEADLINE: Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at 11:59PM EST.

It’s a great giveaway, I’ve been commenting for a few days. I think you were the reason I bought my GO! cutter back in the day 🙂 I love funky shapes and applique shapes

I just recently purchased an AccuQuilt Go Cutter, and I think this book would be a must have reference tool to accompany the Go Cutter. When I purchased it, I didn’t think to ask about fabric waste. Now I have a project to cut, and am afraid that I might run short because of waste, so I am going to cut it with my rotary cutter instead. In the future, I would be better prepared knowing what the waste factor is. I would love to get my hands on a copy of this book.

I have been tossing around the idea of purchasing a die cutter but have been totally intimidated by the costs of the various machines and what you get for that cost. I think Ebony’s book will be a great first start for me to go to to try to figure out what I need (want). Thanks for the opportunity on a great draw

I purchased my ACCuQuilt GO! about 2 months ago and I was astounded at the amount of wasted fabric! If I made miniature quilts then these pieces would come in handy. And my mats are already almost worn out. Don’t get me wrong it saves me time but it also hurts my heart to see all those small pieces of fabric go to waste! Just by skimming through the 16 pages of Ebonys book, I know whether I win it or not, it will be added to my quilting books. Thank you for such a great give away!! And looking forward to your quilting videos.

If I had this book — when I get this book I’ll find more ways to use my cutter. Right now I only use it for applique shapes. Sounds like it’s a lot more of a workhorse than I imagined.

I was, also, fortunate to find Ebony’ site and yahoo group after I purchased the Go. We have so many questions about die cutters and the little information found is scattered through out the internet. Plus, it didn’t answer my questions. Ebony now has all the answers in one resource. Thank you for the giveaway and the new book we all need.

I’m very much looking forward to having Ebony’s book because it is so packed full of the best ways of using your dies and at the same time saving fabric. Plus the info about how best to lay the fabric on each of the dies is something I feel would be very beneficial.
I think the thing I am most looking forward to however is reading/learning more about the Eden System. That looks to fantastic info anyone using die cutters for a pattern can use.

Thank you for this much needed giveaway. I struggle with incomplete cuts with my die cutting machine. Not a consistant problem, but when it happens, it happens. The fabric that is wasted while cutting I have come to accept. I think Ebony Love has the perfect name for writing this book and sharing her love/knowledge with all of us.

I really, really want to win this book! I have a new Sizzix Big Shot Pro and no instructions or details. I’m learning the hard way :*) I’ve found a few videos on the web, but I have so many questions and very little time to spend trolling the internet for answers. And by the way – November 3rd is my birthday, so I think this would be a great birthday gift *hint-hint* LOL!!!

I never thought I would need a die cutter until recently. I hurt my arm and it is painful to cut my fabric. I guess I will need to reconsider. This book sounds like it could make the job a lot easier.

I’m a new quilter and getting ready to retire. I really really need this book. I know the cutter will make cutting easier, but I need the inside scoop on it.

My mother won a baby GO! without any dies or mats – and no real instructions with it. Both of us are having physical cutting challenges. We sure would like to learn what we need to know in order to buy the proper add-ons (dies, mats, etc) and use them. Thanks for the chance to win the end-all be-all Encyclopedia of die cutting book that Ebony wrote.

I have a GO BAby, but I want a larger machine like a Sizzix. I would love to know all the info that is so scattered all over the web in one place. I think it’s really cool that she published herself!

I own the Accu-Quilt go, but due to fabric waste I stopped using it. In fact it is in the closet. This book would be helpful and would allow me to improve my skills using the system. Thanks for the opportunity!

This book sounds like it would be a huge help for anyone using a cutting system. I bought my AccuQuilt Go Cutter recently, and used it for the first time the other day. I love it! I was very impressed with it. I think that Ebony’s book would be a great addition, and a big help in using the cutter to its full potential.
