Sewing Studio & Farm- March 2012 update

I have a few things brewing that I can’t reveal to you just yet…. but look out for more info in the coming weeks. Very exciting stuff!

This week I didn’t have time to make and edit a new tutorial because I’ve just been swamped with things to do!  My husband works at a local college so he was off all last week for spring break and I took advantage of that and setup our spring garden.  Every morning our whole little family hit the dirt with shovels and compost! We had such a great time and I am thankful for my husband taking pictures and video of our adventures! I’m always the one taking video & pics so it’s great for me to be in a few for a change!

We also built some tomato and cucumber trellises from bamboo we have on the property.

I’m ready to paint my studio now too and I’d like to hear what you guys think of my color options.  Watch the full update video to see the colors I plan to use. Very exciting… and a bit tired. Off to do some more work.  Hope you enjoyed your weekend as much I did mine!

Great video! I always go with the middle color – don’t know why…and I would pick the darker ones (so card 2). And I LOVE red, so yes….go for it! My kitchen is the same colors and I LOVE it!

I love the 2nd card 3rd color! Then some bright yellow frames on the wall would go great with those other pops of color!!

Hi Vanessa – love it that you spend so much time in sharing your work and talent!!
I would go with color card #2 – the middle color. And the red beams are a great idea – red has lots of “energy”, don’t forget to paint your door red as del 😉

    Have a happy week,

I think you should use the darker pallet. The lighter one might not show enough difference from white, and since it’s a fun space it should be a fun color. Love the rafter color too. I just love your site with your sewing, cooking and family. Thanks for sharing and know that you are appreciated!

First, I want to say I love your blog and tutorials! It’s easy to follow and I’ve learn so much from you. I started to love sewing! I literally put my sewing machine out of the garage (that’s been there for 5 years!) and start sewing as a hobby. Just want to thank you for that.

Anyway on to the colors, I choose the 1st card #3: the darkest shade on card #1. It’ll be a good contrast for the red beams. 🙂

I think the right card with the deeper colors would look awesome… ever think about a chair rail with the deepest color on bottom? That paired with the red would be great!

First of all, I want to say you are the ‘BEST’, i enjoy watching and learning all the new things that you show on your youtube quilting/sewing tutorial. I cant wait to finish the blanket, and show all my family. Well, for the colors on your new sewing building, I think what ever color you pick will be fine. Well thanks again for sharing with all of us. P.S Great job on the Farm.

    Hola Vanesa,
I would use the 1st. card 3rd color and for the mezzanine the 2nd card 3rd color. I always work with 4 colors and not necessary to paint all the walls. But in this case, because it is symmetric I would paint same blue in walls, put a different accent in the mezzanine. I can’t wait to see it.
