Sewing curves without pins!

Remember this post?

Well here is the tutorial for I how I was able to those curves without using a single pin!

Enjoy!

The Curve Master foot is just fabulous!  I have read reviews where some people struggled to get it to work so I made sure I walked you through every little bit I could in my video tutorial with the hopes of being as clear and thorough as possible and showing you how easy and perfectly it works… even on a very inexpensive mechanical sewing machine.  If you have never sewed curves definitely get this foot and try your hand at it!  If you have sewed curves before, then you know how tricky and time consuming they can be…. try the Curve Master and you will be amazed! p.s.- There is a giveaway connected to this tutorial!  Thanks to our friends at Just Curves one lucky reader will win their own Curve Master presser foot and bent tip tweezers so you too can start sewing curves without pins!

To enter:  Visit my YouTube channel, scroll through my video tutorials, then come back here and tell me which one is your favorite and what video tutorial you would like for me to do next!

Giveaway ends Sunday, Dec. 5th at 11:59 (EST). Winner announced HERE. If you don’t win this time around you can always purchase your own Curve Master foot HERE.

I liked your pattern/video tutorial of your pillow case dress. You make every video to the point, and your directions are so clear and easy to follow. I love seeing updates from you on my facebook wall.

Your tute on the (cheating) applique method is going to come in handy, and I love the sofrito one because I miss Puerto Rico 🙂

Perhaps a video on cheaty ways to do flying geese? My students sometimes have problems with it.

That was awesome, I just bought a junkards path template at a quilt show in oct and have yet to open it…. Gotta get one of those FEET!! Have you tried or thought of making a tutorial on hand applique, using ricky tims- none of that stuff where you have to cut from behind to get the paper out, this you keep in there and soak the whole block overnight….
another thought is embroidered blocks? don’t you have a machine that can embroider? I’ve always wanted to incorporate embroidery more, the only thing I do now are the labels for the back….

I took a look at your videos and must confess, that I don’t understand half of what’s going on. Why? I’m deaf. However, I am very much wanting to sew curves without having to pin fabric to death. This would be very cool. If I were to win this; I would have my husband go through the tutorial with me so that I could learn how to use the foot properly. 😀

Wow! Awesome foot! That would definitely come in handy for me.

As for my favorite video….it just so happens I’d been looking for some applique tips, so right now that one’s my favorite since it saved me a lot of trouble of searching for one. =D I’m also a fan of the pincushion bracelet tutorial!

Not sure what you should do next though…the best tutorials are the ones I didn’t even know I needed!

Hi Vanessa, each one I view seems to be my new “favorite” but I really liked the cheaters applique technique because it gives such a neat edge. By the way I love your audition video too. Good luck with it!

What I’d like to see next is an overview of the different stitches we can use to machine quilt with our domestic machines. Thanks for all your hard work!

Thank you for this giveaway. Unfortunately, I could’t view the videos very well on dialup. The one that liked most was Cheating Needle Turn Applique method. Perhaps a combination video and written tutorial would be nice, on pressing and joining blocks together that you made with the Just Curves Curve Master. Thanks, your neighbor to the west.

My most favorite is the “how to rip unwanted seams.” With over 25 years of sewing, sewing classes and workshops, and ripping miles of fabric, flipping the fabric over and pulling the thread never entered my mind. Your technique was an aha! moment for me. Otherwise I like all of the tutorials and will be glad to see more to come.

I really enjoyed your video on making a quilted laptop cover. Now, I know what I will be making my 2 nieces (who are both in College) for Christmas.
    Thanks for a wonderful tutorial.
It would be great if you could do a tute on making a fabric covered notebook, with a pen holder inside.
    Thank you.

You have so many tutorials, it’s hard to pick a “first choice”, but I think the one about sewing curves without pins is a definite “WOW”! Love it! As for something for your next tute, how about simple sewing machine upkeep – things like how to clean out the bobbin area, etc. Thanks so much for the opportunity to win! I’d LOVE to win one of those Curve Master Feet!!!

My favorite tutorial is definitely the “how to make baby pants from a T shirt”. Genius, I say! All of your tutorials are easy to listen to, easy to understand, and fun to watch. What I really like is that you don’t talk “down” to your viewers as some other tutes do, but that you just explain them with such understanding and simpleness. I think that is one of the main reasons why more folks don’t sew…directions are hard to understand when they don’t’ have to be.
I would love to see a tutorial on how to some easy alterations for tops for larger busted gals. So many store bought things look maternity, in order to fit over the boobies. Just my two cents worth.
Enjoy and congrats to whomever wins this sweet give away.

the sewing curves is an awesome tutorial, especially timely since i have a ton of curves cut and have been procrastinating on the sewing.

Any good tips on piping? (making, using) would be an awesome tutorial.

I really liked your fabric label tutorial! I’ve been wanting to add labels to sewed gifts! Thank you for the giveaway! I HATE sewing curves, so anything that will help that hate go away would be nice 🙂

Completely unrelated to sewing, but the sofrito video is my favorite! I’d love to see one about very basic quilting because its a sewing area I’ve been afraid to venture into!

how to rip unwanted seams was a recent fav that I referred others to.

i’d love to see a tutorial on working with heavy fabrics like canvas and denim and how to best deal with doubled/tripled up fabric, like in a shopping bag. THANKS

I like the video for making fabric labels. Now I need to figure out if I have an inkjet printer – so I can make myself some!

Next – maybe tutorials on hand stitching? I like finding out different peoples tips and time savers also 😀

Since I am a relatively new quilter, I really like all the basic sewing technique videos but I especially like this newest one showing how to sew these curves. Seems like a really neat little gadget – and I love gadgets! Thank you for the giveaway.

I like the binding tutorial. That is the hardest thing for me for some reason. I would love to see a paper piecing tutorial, I am trying to teach myself how to do it!

You did an awesome job on your video tutorial, looks easy enough that I wrote down the name of the presser foot and bent tweezers that I would need… but y’know what? I’d love to win them instead, that would be way easier!! LOL Thanks for sharing!

I’m impressed how you can do everything with one hand! (I am assuming that you are video-ing with the other one….) Anyway, I really liked the You Tube video that shows how to do Cheating version Needleturn applique. I have been hesitant to try applique because I don’t want to use fusible and leave the edges raw, and my attempts at needleturn have been less than successful…..

Oops – forgot to mention what tutorial I’d like to see next….. How about one on inserting piping? I can never seem to get the seam close enough to the piping, so it sticks out too far.

I love your tutorial on printing labels. I never thought of gluing the freezer paper to a regular sheet of paper. I’ve always just ironed the freezer paper to the fabric and it is hit or miss on whether it makes it through the printer without getting jammed. I would love to see a tutorial on squaring up backing fabric for a quilt. Thanks for the opportunity to win that great foot.I have beeen wanting one of those for a long time.

My favorite is the binding tutorial. This looks like a really good way to bind a quilt – and I’m going to try it on my next project.

I’m new to machine quilting and I’d like to see a video on free-form quilting using the sewing machine.

I have throroughly enjoyed most of your tutorials but this particular one about adding curved pieces would be the MOST valuable for me as I do a lot of crazy quilting and I love putting curved pieces into my CQ blocks to soften the look of them. If I don’t win this I will probably go and buy one of these foots anyway…..and the tweezers.

I love your needle turn applique video. Thanks for the great way of doing this! Going to have to try it now. If you can, how about a video on how to set blocks on point? I am confused on how to do this and how to sew the rows together.

    Thanks!

My favorite tutorial is the one on how to make my own fabric labels, I’ve been trying to find a good vendor a custom label I’ve been wanting. I would like you to do some tutorials on how you make cloth diapers.

I loved the video on how to use the Curve Master presser foot!! I have a book on Drunkard Path patterns that I’ve yet to make out of fear of all the curves. I can’t wait to try those patterns with the specialty foot.

My other favorite tutorial was the cheater needle turn applique technique.

I would love to see a tutorial on some easy machine quilting techniques. I don’t have a long arm and get tired of stitching in the ditch for everything.

Thanks for all the great tips!

I made some baby bibs from your video a couple of weeks ago! That one and the pita pizza are my favs so far. I never would have thought to use a pita to make a pizza!

Your videos are awesome cuz you make it so I can understand (I’m a sewing semi-newbie). Thank you for that.

I would love to see more tutes for candle mats, mug rugs, etc.

Thanks for the opportunity to win the presser foot!
