It’s hard to work on my longarm quilting skills because I don’t want to experiment on any gift or customer quilts! I got a chance to load a practice piece this week to try my hand at ruler work- straight edges and curves.  I will say… I still LOVE my free-hand quilting but I might just be getting the hang of this template stuff…

My attempt at feathers is free-hand… I will admit, I think they are getting better!

The lines and stitching-in-the-ditch work were done using the edge of a DVD case as my straight edge. Can you tell I’m impatient?! I ordered some templates but haven’t received them yet so, I had to get resourceful with it!

Those slight curves were made with one of my son’s mini frisbee toys… gotta use what I got!

My latest attempt at free-hand feathers and aside from one crazy feather I think it turned out pretty darn good! Go me!

Hope you are getting some sewing in this holiday break!
